Getting Started
What is the investor password? ▼
Your broker has two passwords: a master password (full trading access) and an investor password (read-only). CopyOptic uses the investor password only — it physically cannot place or modify trades. Find it inside your broker platform under Account Settings or Security.
My account won't connect ▼
Check these in order:
1. Use your investor password, not your main trading password.
2. Copy the server name exactly from your broker platform (e.g. ICMarkets-Live04).
3. Make sure the account number (login) is correct — no spaces.
4. Some brokers take 30-60 seconds to respond. Try again once more before contacting us.
MT4 vs MT5 — which do I use? ▼
Use whichever version your broker gave you access to. Most newer brokers run MT5. Log into your broker's platform — the version number is shown in the title bar or account info screen. Both platforms work identically in CopyOptic.
Is cTrader supported? ▼
Yes — cTrader is fully supported via Spotware OAuth. Click Connect Account in the Accounts tab, select cTrader, and you'll be redirected to Spotware to authorise read-only access. You'll be returned to CopyOptic automatically once connected.
How do I connect a TradeLocker account? ▼
TradeLocker is fully supported. In the Connect Account form, select the TradeLocker tab and enter your email, password, and broker server domain (e.g. live.ftmo.com or demo.tradelocker.com). If you have multiple sub-accounts, you'll see a picker. Works with FTMO, The Funded Trader, FundedNext, SurgeTrader, and most other TradeLocker-powered prop firms.
How do I connect a DXtrade account? ▼
DXtrade is fully supported. Enter your broker domain (e.g. trade.the5ers.com), username, and password. CopyOptic authenticates via DXtrade's API and re-authenticates silently if the session expires. Works with The5%ers, Apex Trader Funding, and most other DXtrade-powered prop firms.
How do I import a Myfxbook account? ▼
Myfxbook is an import-only connector — ideal if your primary broker is not supported but your account is tracked on Myfxbook. Enter your Myfxbook email and password. Sessions are IP-bound and expire after roughly one month — re-enter credentials to refresh.
When does my data update? ▼
Data syncs automatically every few minutes while your account is connected. After first connecting, allow up to 5 minutes for all historical trades to load. If data looks stale, try removing and re-adding the account to force a fresh sync.
How do I remove a broker account? ▼
Open the Accounts tab, find the account row and click Remove. This disconnects the account and removes its data from CopyOptic. Your actual broker account and funds are completely unaffected.
Analytics and Scores
What is the health score? ▼
The health score (0-100) is a weighted composite of your key metrics: win rate, profit factor, drawdown control, consistency and Sharpe ratio. 70+ is solid. 50-69 needs attention. Below 50 usually signals high drawdown or inconsistent position sizing.
What is the CopyOptic Score? ▼
The CopyOptic Score is a single 0-100 rating per account combining six weighted components: Risk Discipline (25%), Daily Consistency (20%), Drawdown Quality (20%), Win Rate Stability (15%), Track Record Depth (10%), Performance (10%). Tiers: Elite (85+), Strong (70+), Solid (55+), Developing (40+), High Risk (below 40). Accounts with fewer than 20 trades are capped at 50.
How does the forecast work? ▼
The forecast runs 1,000 simulated equity paths using your historical trade distribution (returns, win rate, frequency). The five bands are: Bear (p10), Cautious (p25), Base (p50), Optimistic (p75), Bull (p90). These are statistical models based on past data, not predictions of future results.
What is TWR (Time-Weighted Return)? ▼
Time-Weighted Return (TWR) calculates compounded return across sub-periods and removes the distortion caused by deposits and withdrawals. If you deposit extra capital and the account grows, simple return makes it look good but the growth came from new capital, not skill. TWR strips that out. It's the same method used by professional fund managers and the CFA Institute.
What is the difference between Growth and Equity curves? ▼
Growth shows realised performance — the cumulative result of every closed trade. Open positions have no effect. Equity shows total account value including unrealised P&L from open positions. The gap between them shows your live open-trade exposure. Toggle between them using the Growth / Equity button at the top-right of the chart.
What do the shading and triangles on the equity curve mean? ▼
Drawdown shading is a red fill between the running peak equity and the current line. Cash flow markers are green upward triangles (deposits) and red downward triangles (withdrawals) at the date and equity level the cash flow occurred.
How do AI Insights work? ▼
The Insights tab analyses your complete trade history and surfaces up to 10 types of actionable insight: day of week, session, instrument, direction bias, overtrading, revenge trading, risk-reward discipline, lot size consistency, win rate trend, and challenge-specific metrics. Hit Generate AI Summary for a coaching narrative written to your specific numbers.
Features
How does the Prop Firm Tracker work? ▼
The Prop Firm Tracker monitors your prop firm rules in real time — daily loss limit, max drawdown, and profit target. Choose your firm (FTMO, The5%ers, E8, Topstep, Apex, MyFundedFX), enter your account size and start date, and CopyOptic calculates live progress. Colours turn amber at 60% and red at 90% of a limit.
What does the deep prop firm analytics show? ▼
Advanced daily analytics include: daily P&L gauge toward your loss limit, pace indicator vs profit target deadline, consistency score, instrument breakdown, and recommended risk per trade. All figures update on every data refresh.
What is the Strategy Suite? ▼
The Strategy Suite offers: Compound Calculator (project account growth), Goal Planner (model multiple strategies), Breakeven Tracker (log cash flows and see when you break even), and Scenario Builder (compare up to 3 strategies side by side). All tools work offline — no account connection required.
What is the Compound Growth Goal Tracker? ▼
The Compound Growth Goal Tracker on the Performance tab plots your actual balance against a projected compound curve. Set a target balance and expected monthly return. It also shows how many months at your set rate it takes to reach the target.
How do I set up alerts? ▼
Click Alerts in the top nav, then New Alert. Available types: Drawdown Alert (triggers when drawdown exceeds your threshold), Loss Streak (fires after N consecutive losses), Disconnect Alert (notifies if an account loses connection). Alerts are sent by email.
How do shareable links work? ▼
In the Accounts tab, click Share to generate a public link for any account. The link displays performance stats without exposing broker credentials. You can revoke it at any time. Available on the Fund plan.
How do I share my results as an image? ▼
Each public trader profile has a Share card button that generates a 1200x630 image with your health score ring, key stats, and a QR code. Post it to Twitter/X, LinkedIn, or any platform. Verified accounts get a special badge on the card.
How do I export my trades to CSV? ▼
Open the Trades tab, apply any filters, then click Export CSV. You get entry, exit, symbol, direction, lot size, P&L, and duration. Available on all plans.
Can I add notes to the equity chart? ▼
Yes — click on any point of the chart and type a short note. The annotation appears as a pin at that date. Notes are private to your account and not visible on public profiles.
Can I set a strategy start date per account? ▼
Yes. Each account has an optional Strategy Start Date — trades before that date are excluded from analytics. Click Edit on an account row and pick a date. Public profiles show a disclosure badge when set.
Can I customise my dashboard stat cards? ▼
Cards 2, 3, and 4 are fully customisable. Click Customise in the toolbar above the cards. Choose from 11 metrics including Today's P&L, Drawdown, Health Score, Win Rate, Profit Factor, Expectancy, and more. Selections persist across sessions.
What is the economic calendar? ▼
The economic calendar shows upcoming high-impact macro events for the next 21 days. Events overlapping with your open position currencies are flagged with an Exposure tag. Calendar data refreshes every 6 hours via Finnhub.
Can I use my live account data in the Breakeven Tracker? ▼
Yes — the Breakeven Tracker has a Live Import section. Select your connected account and click Import Transactions. CopyOptic pulls deposits, withdrawals, and daily P&L automatically.
What are the milestone celebrations? ▼
CopyOptic celebrates key milestones with a one-time overlay: first connected account, first profitable month, first $1k/$10k/$100k equity, hitting your growth goal, and unlocking the Verified badge. Each fires once per user.
How do I manage my performance digest emails? ▼
Weekly Digest (Fridays) covers period P&L, key metrics, and tips. Monthly Review (1st of month) gives a full breakdown. Manage both from Settings > Email Reports.
Leaderboard
What is the trader leaderboard? ▼
The
CopyOptic Leaderboard ranks opted-in accounts by
Risk-Adjusted Score (RAS) — a composite of TWR, Sharpe ratio, drawdown control, consistency, and trade volume. Three tiers: Verified, Pro, Elite. Data verified directly from broker APIs.
How do I get my account on the leaderboard? ▼
1. Sign up free. 2. Connect your trading account. 3. Enable a Share link. 4. Click the Leaderboard button on the account row to opt in. Eligibility requires: live account, 90+ days tracked, 50+ trades, $1,000+ equity, and no trading gap over 7 days.
What is the Verified by CopyOptic badge? ▼
The badge is awarded automatically when an account is live (not demo), has 30+ days tracked, 50+ trades, and a Health Score of 60+. No application needed. Verified accounts get the badge on public profiles and share cards.
